Meet details for this weekend!
Hi Team!
I have attached a lot of information here: our finalized meet entries, the team information sheet (worth a good read), directions to the off-site shuttle, and information of live streaming for the event for people not present who want to view their swimmer's races!
Please read the team information sheet carefully, it is fairly quick and painless and contains lots of very relevant information, especially if you haven't been to a UVAC meet before.
Highlights:
Saturday AM: Arrive ~ 8:40am
In Water: 9:00-9:20am
Saturday PM: Arrive ~ 1:40pm
In Water: 2:00-2:20pm
Sunday AM: Arrive ~8:20am
In Water: 8:40-9:00am
Sunday PM: Arrive ~ 1:30pm
In Water: 1:50-2:10am
Please see the draft timeline for questions on the meet time frame and time of events. UVAC meets are run on a tight schedule, they are never more than a few minutes off the timeline.
Swimmers can meet up to talk to parents in the lobby. UVAC wants to keep swimmers out of the stands. Most of the time swimmers will be on deck with the coaches and teammates. They are less likely to miss an event that way and more likely to be active participants with their team if they spend their time on the pool deck, plus Coach Taylor and I love the company.
No parents on the pool deck unless you are serving as a timer or official.
On that note: We need 1 timer for Saturday AM and 1 timer for Sunday AM. Please check out the sign-up table I have created and sign-up. I have also put in a sign-up for relief timers that will come roughly half-way through the meet, otherwise shifts are for the full meet. Both timers and relief timers should attend the timing meeting in the lobby at 9:00am to check-in and coordinate relief timing.
Also officials or apprentice officials, please check in with Jess Workman the meet referee via email prior to the meet to let her know you are coming and what shifts you are interested in working. Her email is: [email protected]. There is a necessary officials meeting ~45minutes before the start of the meet in the break room behind lane 1.
Cliff notes from the parent Information sheet:
- No photography behind the blocks from the deck or in the stands
- No flash photography at the start of the race
- Only official photographers allowed to photograph on the pool deck.
- If you have a question on a call or a result talk to me the coach. Only coaches can appeal a call or result, not a parent.
- Safe sport considerations: Parents use bathrooms in the stands, swimmers use bathrooms in the locker rooms, and coaches and Officials use bathrooms in the lobby hallway near the cafe.
- Parking: there is an offsite shuttle running every 10-12 minutes during the meet and 1 hour before and after the meet, see parking information sheet below. Also paid parking on-site is available $20 per day and $30 for the weekend, cash only and small bills appreciated (5s, 10s, and 20s).
- T-shirts will be for sale in the lobby both Saturday and Sunday.
- The poolside cafe will be open all weekend for concessions.
That was a lot of information. Let me know if you have any questions or if you can't attend due to illness. Please use my cell: 612-222-4526 for meet day changes (ie. illness). Coach Taylor and I are so excited to be on deck with your swimmers this weekend. It will be so much fun! Go Sturgeons!
Coach Hilary
