Planning For the Future and Thanksgiving Break!
Hi Team-
Happy Tuesday, I am busily trying to organize our meet calendar for the rest of the season. I have a few inquiries out, we may potentially be joining the New Hampshire State Championships at UVAC on Friday March 14th and Saturday March 15th. Like the Vermont State Championships in the summer, this could be a really fun end of the season meet and another chance to swim some fast times at UVAC.
Also I am trying to pencil in a few more block party meets, because this past Saturday was so fun. My goal is to try and invite 1 team each month (like the dual meets in the summer). I still do not know if the times will count for championship cut times (Bronze, Silvers, Age Groups, etc). But they can at least be used for bragging rights and seed times at non-championship meets.
A way to for sure be able to offer meets that count in the future is to train to be either an Administrative Official (AO) or Stroke and Turn Official (S&T). You get a USA swimming account login (actually all of you parents should have one from creating an account for your kids). You log on, go to the education tab, and take the online clinic, pass the open book test, and apprentice for a few sessions with a certified official and then you are good to go. You will also then be considered a true meet hero.
Ok my plea is over, stay tuned and I will keep you all informed as I update our meet calendar.
In the meantime, I need to ask about practice next week. I am going to hold regular practice on Monday the 25th from 6:30-8:30pm. Then I am going to hold practices on Tuesday the 26th, Wednesday 27th, and maybe Friday the 29th from 4:00-6:00pm, if there is interest. My plan is to have the Under 8 group come 4-4:30pm, the 8-10 group come 4-5pm, and the over 11 group come 4:30-6:00pm. Please fill out this handy dandy interest form to let me know of your attendance plan for next week. If you are off to nice places or reserving all next week for family and turkey no worries.
Thanks everyone and see you at the pool in 2 hours!
Coach Hilary
