Jan. 5th Meet Info and Jobs! Please sign up!

Hi Jan. 5th UVAC Squad-

3 emails from me in one day, wowsers! Thanks for reading. This one is important meet information for the meet at UVAC in 4 days! I wanted to get this out as soon as I had it so you all could plan your fun Sundays! Kari, Taylor, and I are so happy to have so many of your swimmers, we love a big crowd!

Morning Session - 8&Under, 10&Under, and 13-14s:

Arrive at 8:40am

Warm-Up: 9-9:20am

Meet Timeline: 9:25am ~ 1:15pm, see the meet timeline attached below.

Lunchtime session for 500s, warm- up: 1:25-1:50pm, 500s start at 1:55.

Afternoon Session- 11-12s and 13 & Over:

Arrive at 2:50pm

Warm-Up: 3:10-3:30pm

Meet Timeline: 3:55 ~ 7:34pm, see meet timeline attached below.

Meet Jobs:

Our team is required to fill 2 timer positions in the morning and 1 in the afternoon. Please see the sign-up sheet and sign-up now! I have included timer positions and relief positions. Relief is not required but I think it does help to have a relief timer, so people get 1.5- 2 hour shifts versus 3.5 ~ 4 hour shifts. More people helping makes the load less for all of us. Plus it gives you a front row seat to the action.

Please both timers and relief timers report to their shifts at the timer meetings at the start of each session. Timers meetings are held in the lobby at 9am for the morning session and 3:30pm for the afternoon session. Your mission if you choose to accept this role (and I hope you do) is to report to the meeting, co-ordinate when the relief will take over, and then report to your assigned lane at the start of the meet. We got this! Teamwork makes the dream work!

Meet Info:

Please read the meet information sheet attached to this email. It contains all the relevant information. Meet rules, parking locations, parking fees, and information about live streaming with Live Barn for those who want to watch from afar.

The gist of the information is:

  • Safe sport considerations:
    • Spectators use bathrooms upstairs in bleachers, swimmers use locker rooms, and coaches/officials/meet helpers use bathrooms in the lobby near the cafe.
    • No photography behind the blocks, even in the spectator area, please obey the posted signs.
    • No flash photography at the start, this can mess up the swimmers and the timers waiting for the strobe from the start.
  • No parents or caregivers on the pool deck unless you are serving in a meet helping capacity (ie. timer or official). Insert my slight plug for help in these roles! Helping equals deck access and more fun!
  • Parking is available offsite with shuttle service, see attachment.
  • On-site parking available for $20 a day. Please bring small bills $5s, $10s, and $20s or offer to pay for cars behind you if you have big bills (Happy New Years present?) because the parking attendants have limited ability to break large bills.
  • Splash Cafe will be open onsite with hot and cold options for meals.
  • There will be no meet t-shirts or swimsuits available for purchase at this meet, so parents you get to save your swim suit and meet t-shirt budget for Bronze or Silvers!
  • I am sure I missed something, so read the parent information attachment, free CVSA cap to whoever catches something I missed!

Alight everyone, seriously Happy New Years, and I promise this is the last email you will be getting from me today unless you ask me a question.

Remember to let me know by text or call (emails I don't always check in time) on meet morning, if you can't make it due to illness or family emergency: 612-222-4526.

Ok talk to you later, and see you at the pool soon!

Coach Hilary
