Happy School Break Week!
Hi Team-
I want to take a moment to remind everyone of the modified break schedule.
No practice tonight.
Practices will be Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday 5:30-7:30pm.
All groups start at 5:30pm and then end at 6:15pm, 6:30pm, or 7:30pm depending on what roster group they are in: Under 8, 8-11, or Over 11 respectively.
Please fill out the break practice RSVP, so I know how many coaches I need to have available for you all.
There will be no practice next Monday 3/3 and then we go back to the normal practice schedule on Tuesday 3/4.
We have the Champlain Valley Cup at home on Friday March 7th (over 11) and Saturday March 8th. Please sign up for this home meet! I have invited all the area teams, and we have Addison Otters, Edge, St. Albans Sharks, Icebreakers (CVSC), and Burlington YMCA Dynamos joining us! I would love to have a full showing from our team if possible and also have your help in running these meets (I will need a lot....bring a relative or friend)!
Speaking of meet help: I was brainstorming with another parent/official on our team (Stacy Simonyi) and we were talking about having a "watch party" for the officiating certification course at practice one day in March. We can bring in laptops and connect to the course through USA swimming. I would be happy to help set this up for people interested in officiating. That way you could get on your way to being certified as an official and watch your kid practice at the same time, 2 birds, 1 stone, bingo! Let me know if you are interested. I have a few people that have expressed interest but it would be great to have a few more as well. It takes a lot of volunteers to run these meets.
I set out to write a short update and look at me, 400 words later... but I also want to say congratulations to our 11-14 Age Group swimmers. They had a fabulous weekend of racing and represented our new team in finals on Saturday night (Alissa 50 free and Mavis 100Bk)! It was so much fun to watch these swimmers race and such a pleasure to coach! Awesome job Mavis and Alissa!
Here I am going to leave you all with a quote from Katie Ledecky from Oliver Poirer-Leroy's swim log:
"Practice like you are not good enough to win, race like you are too good to lose".
On that note, see some of you at practice this Tuesday!
Coach Hilary
