Happy New Year 2026! Practice starts at 5:30pm today not 5!
Hi Sturgeons!
Happy New Year! First I want to let anyone know that if you are planning on attending tonight’s (Friday January 2nd) practice it starts at 5:30pm and not 5pm as originally planned. The college swimmers need the pool until 5:30pm. Sorry for the confusion and I will see everyone at 5:30pm tonight.
On to next week, and return to “normal” schedule. For those of you who need a refresher, that is:
Little Frys: Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday 5-5:45pm.
Crimson: Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday 5:45-6pm drylands, 6-7pm in the water.
Tuesday and Friday 6:30-7:30/45pm.
Teal: Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday 5-6pm in the water, 6-6:30pm drylands.
Tuesday and Friday 6:30-7:45/8pm.
Big Sturgeons: Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday 5-5:30pm drylands, 5:30-7pm in the water.
Tuesday and Friday 6:30-8:30pm.
US Swimming Membership, I sent some of you reminders that your US Swimming Membership is out of date as of 12/31/25 (2 days ago- happy new year)! Please update your US Swimming Membership if it is expired. Go to your US Swimming Account and click renew and pay USA Swimming their $98 for a premium membership. In order to be a USA Swimming club we all need to be USA Swimming members in good standing otherwise I will not be able to have you swimming in the pool, it affects our club’s status, insurance coverage, and our facility rental agreement with St. Mike’s. So please do it ASAP if you have received a reminder from me, that means you need to do it. If you are unsure, feel free to reach out. Time is of the essence here.
I also want to send a note of encouragement on the season and how it is this time of year for a lot of kids and people. It is a long season, don’t lose heart. January is when we really start getting going with meets and lots of fun in February too. If your swimmer just had a big birthday and are in a new age category or had a couple weeks of illness, it’s ok, just give yourself some grace to heal and grow and then get back to the grind. I believe that “motivation follows action”. You will not always be motivated to do something but if you get yourself doing the something then the motivation to continue will come. Honestly, that is how I feel about all of December and some of January most years. So let’s pick ourselves up out of the holiday season, and give us a few more weeks to see where we can go with this adventure. I believe the best is yet to come! I know I am really excited to see what all your swimmers are capable of.
Alright on that note, see you at the pool!
Happy New Year!
Coach Hilary
